CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Oklahoma Baptist golfers
Josie Patterson,
Lindyn Ross and
Morgan Becker were named to the 2022-23 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team on Monday.
OBU was one of 394 programs recognized which included 1,460 collegiate golfers.
"I'm just so proud of how hard they worked in the classroom and on the course this year," coach
Mike Manlapig said. "To achieve an award like this takes a lot of dedication and time."
To qualify, a student-athlete had to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and played in 50 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Patterson is now a five-time recipient of the prestigious honor. Over the course of her final season with the Bison, Patterson played in 11 events and posted a stroke average of 78.50. She notched three, top-11 performances included a sixth-place overall finish during the OBU Invitational.
Earning her second career WGCA honor was Ross, a sophomore. In eight tournaments this past season, her shot average was 81.82. Ross' best outing was during the Grace Shin Invitational in October with a tied-for-18th, plus-12 performance (78-76=154).
Rounding out OBU's honorees was Becker, a freshman that had a year to remember. Over the course of 12 tournaments, Becker notched five, top-10 finishes, won the OBU Invitational and qualified for the NCAA Central Regional Championship as an individual, the Bison's first golfer to do so. She also became the first OBU golfer in program history to record back-to-back rounds under par which came during the Newman Invitational on April 3-4.
