We’re In! Bison Selected to NCAA Tournament Field

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist (43-10) earned an at-large bid to the 64-team NCAA Division II Softball Championship on Monday. It is the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.
 
OBU, selected as the fifth seed in the Central Region, will head to host institution University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond on May 11 and play fourth seed Harding. Game time at UCO's Gerry Pinkston Stadium is set fo 3:30 p.m.
 
In addition to OBU, UCO and Harding, Great American Conference school Southeastern Oklahoma State will be a part of this regional which is in double-elimination format.
 
The at-large bid should come as no surprise after the Bison put together one of the best regular-season resumes in the country. Head Coach Sam Maples' team earned the GAC Regular Season Title, its first-ever, as well as win a program-record 17 straight games.
 
Thursday's matchup with Harding will mark the fourth time this season that the two teams will have played. During the regular season, the Bison took game one 3-0, before HU came back in games two and three by 3-1 and 1-0 tallies, respectively.
