SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist pitchers
Nolan Feazle and
Jake Hamilton were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Baseball Team on Tuesday. The selections are the first All-District honorees in the NCAA era.
To qualify, a student-athlete had to have a 3.50 grade point average or higher, been of sophomore standing and have legitimate playing credentials.
Feazle, an Accounting major, was absolute fire down the stretch for the Bison, a team that made the GAC Tournament Championship game and won 18 of their last 27 games. The junior from Byng, Okla., made eight appearances, notched a pair of saves and wins and posted a 2.04 ERA. He also struck out 16 batters in 17.2 innings pitched and limited opponents to a .182 average. Feazle's top performance of the season came on April 19 at Newman when he tossed a season-high six innings and struck out nine.
As for Hamilton, a Natural Science major and All-GAC Second Team selection, he had a standout senior season. The Asher, Okla., native had a staff-high 99 strikeouts which also ranked fourth in the GAC. His .249 opponent batting average checked in at ninth while his 29 batters struck out looking total ranked fourth. His best appearance of the year came during the 3-0 road win against Northwestern on March 4 when he fanned 14 batters. That was the second-highest total by a Bison pitcher in the D2 era.
With their selections, the pair will move onto the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. That will be announced June 7.
