LARCHWOOD, Ia. – Freshman Morgan Becker made history once again as she concluded her three-day stint at the NCAA Central Regional tournament with a final even-72, good for a sixth place overall finish.
It is the highest placing and second-best round at the tourney in Oklahoma Baptist history.
Becker turned in the best card in OBU's Division II era at the event, finishing 4-over-par after 54 holes of golf. Her game progressed each day, shooting rounds of 75-73-72 for a total of 220 (+4).
Becker sunk four birdies today, a match of her total through the first two rounds. After shooting 1-over-par on the front nine, Becker got to work on the turn. The rookie carded two birdies en route to a 1-under finish on the back stretch, her best of the tournament.
The Southlake, Texas native had the third-best finish of all GAC participants and nearly punched her ticket to next week's National Championships. However, Northeastern State's Yasmin Hang and Northwest Missouri State's Paige Hoffman turned in lower cards to edge Becker for the trip to Eureka, Missouri.
Becker's historic inaugural campaign, which saw multiple program records fall, comes to a close.
