LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Oklahoma Baptist softball players Kayleigh Jones and Emily Adler were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region First Team on Wednesday.
It is the first time in program history that multiple Bison have earned All-Region nods. Furthermore, no other Oklahoma Baptist player has ever garnered a first-team selection.
The duo joins Reagan Ford (2022) and Franki Hull (2019), who both earned second-team recognitions in their respective seasons, as the only Bison to collect All-Region honors in OBU's DII era.
Jones, a senior from Claremore, Okla. was one of the top pitchers in the country. She was recently named the GAC's Pitcher of the Year and was a unanimous selection to the All-GAC first team. Her flawless work in the circle helped OBU produce the best earned run average in the conference by the end of the regular season.
Jones led the central region in ERA (0.74), shutouts (13), strikeouts (305), victories (30), and hits allowed per seven innings (4.08). When facing Jones, teams hit just .166 in the batter's box.
Adler, a senior from Rose Hill, Kan. earned All-GAC First Team honors and was named the conference Player of the Year last week. Adler headed the league in batting average (.419), hits (67), and on-base percentage (.487). She added a tie of the fifth-most stolen bases (17) and the sixth-most scored runs (35).
Regionally, Edler ranked sixth in batting average, eighth in hits, and fifth in on-base percentage.
Oklahoma Baptist returns to action tomorrow for the first round of the NCAA Central Regional tournament. The Bison will face Harding at 3:30 p.m. in Edmond, Okla.
