LUBBOCK, Texas – The women's track and field team posted five top-10 finishes and five NCAA Division II provisional marks over the weekend at Texas Tech's Corky/Crofoot Shootout.
Leading the running events was Olivia Tate's 10th-place finish in the 200m dash. Tate's 23.80 time was a personal best and ranks 19th in the country. Furthermore, it is the top time in the Great American Conference.
In the 800m, Kaylen King's personal-best mark of 2:19.13 placed fourth. It is the second-fastest time in the GAC. Elisabeth Jones finished sixth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.98, while Kyndall Hicks claimed eighth in 15.78.
Jones also charted a PR in the 400m hurdles, crossing eighth with a time of 1:02.64.
Freshman Flora Dupans headed the field events with a 48.31m (158-6) heave in the discus that met the NCAA DII provisional standard and placed fourth. Dupans' mark is the second-furthest throw in program history amd ranks 11th in the nation. A week ago, Dupans broke the OBU record in the discus alongside teammate Jade Byrd.
Caitlin Mannon posted a 44.35m (145-6) mark in the hammer, good for ninth overall. It is the fourth-best mark in the GAC.
Anisha Henderson earned an NCAA qualifying mark in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 6.10m (20-0.25). The jump placed fourth and ranks 11th in the country.
The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams ran their best times of the season. Placing third in the 4x100 was the quartet of Henderson, Tate, Tahlor Brown, and Mary McKey with a time of 46.13. Tate, Kimberly McKinney, Brown, and McKey ran a 3:48.50 in the latter, good for fourth place.
Both times are the fastest in the conference.
Oklahoma Baptist moves on to the Great American Conference Championships this week, which will be held at Harding University in Searcy, Ark.
