Jones, Reese Collect GAC Honors

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Pitcher Kayleigh Jones and second baseman Adi Reese have been named the GAC's Co-Pitcher and Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

For the second straight week, OBU claims each of the conference awards. Since the Great American Conference began announcing its weekly nods on February 6, a Bison has been named either player or pitcher of the week 12 times.

Jones leads the charge with seven recognitions, while Reese picks up her second of the season. Jones has now been tabbed the league's pitcher of the week 12 times in her career.

Jones produced a 0.00 ERA in the pitching lane in two appearances over the weekend, leading Oklahoma Baptist to its fourth-straight sweep. She punched out 19 batters while surrendering six hits and walking five.

The Claremore, Okla., native recorded her 11th shutout in game one of Saturday's 2-0 victory over Henderson State. She struck out 14 batters while giving up four hits. Jones returned to the circle on Sunday to collect five more strikeouts without surrendering an earned run in 5.0 innings of work.

Reese led the Bison inside the batter's box with a .667 batting average on four hits and a home run. She slugged 1.333 without striking out and totaled eight bags.

Reese's best performance came in Sunday's finale, where she went 3-for-3 and blasted a two-run shot that prompted a scoring spree to wrap up the series.

As clean-up efforts from the tornado that damaged the community of Shawnee continue, plans for the time and place of this weekend's series with Arkansas Tech will be announced in the coming days.
