JOPLIN, Mo. – Oklahoma Baptist wrapped up play at Missouri Southern State's Virginia Laas Invitational in sixth place of 17 teams on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bison shot 39-over-par today to close three rounds of action, highlighted by a 323 (+35) finish in round two. OBU's final standing was the second-best position of all participating GAC schools, trailing No. 6 Henderson State, who won the tournament.
Oklahoma Baptist cut their score by nine strokes to climb three spots in the second round yesterday after finishing in a tie for eighth with a 332 (+44) through the first 18.
Morgan Becker shot 16 slots up the leaderboard on Tuesday to claim a tie of 23rd overall. Becker sliced her strokes by five to card a 4-over 76, her best round of the tournament. Her run, the best 18 holes of any Bison today, featured a birdie and a 1-over-par score on the back nine.
Josie Patterson followed in a tie for 26th, finishing two shots back with a final sum of 244 (+28). Before firing an 84 (+12) in round three, Patterson turned in the second-lowest round on the team to close Monday's action. Patterson's 79 (+7) included two of her four birdies.
Hayden Meiser shot 10-over-par in the closing round to place in a tie for 35th. Meiser charted a tie of the OBU's best average on par 5s (5.17) and was one of eight participants to sink an Eagle. She carded the two-under shot on the front nine of her second-round 78 (+6).
Valentina Nunez-Butzonitch and Karlee Holcomb rounded out the OBU lineup in ties for 52nd and 67th, respectively. Nunez-Butzonitch's closing 88 (+16) featured a birdie, while Holcomb shot her best round of event, finishing 13-over-par through the final 18 holes.
Oklahoma Baptist closes its regular season and will return to the course on April 23-25 for the Great American Conference Championships in Hot Springs, Ark.
