Bison Sweep GAC’s Weekly Honors

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist's Brek Galbreath and Dan Pruitt were named Great American Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, on Monday.

The honors came after a perfect 4-0 week for OBU which included a road sweep at Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Galbreath earned his first career Pitcher of the Week nod after shutting down the GAC's top offense in Southwestern. During the series opener on Apr. 7, he tossed eight frames, allowed a season-low three hits, fanned seven and helped the Bison shut out the Bulldogs 5-0. Just one SWOSU player reached scoring position as it was blanked for the second time in 36 games.

As for Pruitt, a now three-time GAC Player of the Week, he batted .556 with a 1.222 slugging average last week. He collected 10 hits in 18 at-bats with four homers, 12 RBI, 22 total bases and three stolen bases. Defensively, he notched 30 putouts with one assist and no errors.

Pruitt's best came versus SWOSU on Apr. 8, a 23-4 win. He was 5-for-5 with six runs batted in, two runs scored and a home run. That homer moved his career total to 39, second-best all-time in OBU history. Plus, by week's end, Pruitt was 7-for-9 (.778) with two outs, and he added 10 two-out RBI.

The Bison will return to action on April 14 when it visits Ouachita for a three-game series.
