Bison Unleash Firepower at Southeastern

DURANT – Troy Shields had two homers as Oklahoma Baptist (15-14) crushed Southeastern Oklahoma State 17-4 on Wednesday at Mike Metheny Field.

OBU tied its season-high with six bombs with 13 hits during the blowout victory. Five different players notched multiple hits including Jose Parga who posted a 2-for-4 line with four RBI. Plus, Kade Self went 2-for-5 with four runs batted in while Alex Schroeder and Austin Gonzales notched multiple knocks. Furthermore, Dan Pruitt hit a grand slam and drove in five.

A dominant third inning was all OBU needed to prevail on Wednesday.

The Bison sent 11 batters into the box and tallied eight runs on five hits. Shields started the frame with a solo bomb before adding another nine batters later. His second homer of the inning made the score 8-0.

In between those Shields long shots were a Parga grand slam and RBI from Jayden Shafer and Self.

Defensively, the Bison got five solid innings of work from newcomer Logan Kimbro. He scattered four hits, two earned runs and fanned five batters. Kimbro also induced a combined nine groundouts and fly-ball outs.

The green and gold invoked the run rule with eight more runs in the sixth and seventh frames. Self delivered a three-run bomb in the sixth before Pruitt smacked another grand slam in the seventh. That last blast made the score 17-3.

OBU will return to action on March 31 when it hosts East Central at 6 p.m.
