Greene Tabbed GAC Player of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore outfielder Sammie Greene has been named the Great American Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

Today is the seventh time a Bison has earned the accolade this season and is the second career recognition for Greene.

The Clovis, CA. native hit .444 and recorded two home runs to help Oklahoma Baptist claim its first-ever series victory over Southern Arkansas last weekend. Greene posted team-bests in slugging percentage (1.111), RBIs (4), total bags (10), and scored runs (9). Additionally, she was 2-for-2 in stolen bases.

Defensively, Greene notched six putouts and dished out an assist on a dart from her centerfield position to home plate in the weekend's rubber match. She finished with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Greene went 2-for-3 at the plate in Friday night's opener, featuring a two-out solo home run to stamp the 5-0 shutout victory. In game two, she accounted for three RBIs on two hits and scored three runs. Again, she went yard in the final frame, cutting into the deficit with a two-run shot over right field.

This season, Greene is batting .310 while slugging .534. She totals 10 RBIs, 31 bags, an on-base percentage of .403, and the fourth-most stolen bags on the squad.

Greene and company will return to action this weekend for a three-game conference series at East Central.
