RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Senior infielder Adi Reese has been named the Great American Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Reese is the third Bison to claim the league's weekly honor this season, joining Kayleigh Jones and Kennedy Clark.
The Whitewater, Kan., native had multiple outstanding showings at the plate last week as she led Oklahoma Baptist to a 5-2 record. Reese finished batting .435 with 10 hits, 11 RBIs, four home runs, and a slugging percentage of .957.
Defensively, Reese accounted for nine putouts and eight assists while only committing one error en route to a .944 fielding percentage.
In OBU's sweep of Southwest Baptist on Tuesday, Reese brought in seven of the 15 total runs, scored on the back of three home runs and three hits. Reese became the first Bison to record three home runs over a two-game span since 2018 and the only player to smack two in a game this season, which occurred in game two of the doubleheader.
She batted .500 with a slugging percentage of 2.000% and posted a .635 on-base mark. Furthermore, she registered three putouts and three assists from the second base position.
Over the weekend in Monticello, Reese paired a .600 batting average with a .900 slugging percentage. She went 6-for-10 at the plate, scored four runs, tallied four RBIs, and clubbed her fourth home run of the week in the sweep of UAM. In the finale on Sunday, Reese batted 3-for-3 and registered two RBIs.
This season, Reese leads the Bison and is tied for the third-most home runs (5) in the GAC. She adds the squad's highest slugging percentage (.560) while batting .320 with the second-most RBIs (19).
