Self Named GAC Player of the Week

SHAWNEE – It was not a surprise on Monday when the Great American Conference announced Oklahoma Baptist's Kade Self as its Player of the Week.

The senior from Shawnee was spectacular in the batter's box during a three-game sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma State last weekend. For Self, it is his second career honor.

In 10 at-bats versus the Savage Storm, Self produced seven hits, a double and two home runs. He also added 11 runs batted in, 14 total bases and a slugging mark of 1.400. His on-base percentage was outstanding, too, checking in at .727.

During the series finale against SE, he lifted OBU in front, 9-6, with a fifth-inning grand slam. He was 3-for-4 in that game with two homers and seven RBI, two off the OBU single-game record. Furthermore, he produced five of the team's seven 2-out RBI in the series with Southeastern.

This season, Self is in the top-three of the GAC with 28 RBI while sitting just outside the top-ten in slugging (.613) and batting average (.387).
