RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Pitcher Kayleigh Jones has been named the Great American Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week for a second consecutive week, the league office announced this afternoon.
Jones made four appearances to help Oklahoma Baptist to a 3-1 record at the MSU Round-Up last weekend. In 18.1 innings of action, Jones struck out 34 batters without allowing a single earned run (0.00 era). She surrendered just eight hits to capture three wins, improving her season record to 6-0.
The Claremore, Okla., native started with a 0.2-inning performance against Fort Hays State on Friday morning. Jones struck out one of the two batters she faced without giving up a hit. Then she entered the circle again versus Cameron to pitch a complete game.
Jones fanned eight in the Bison's 10-1 win over the Aggies, allowing three hits and one unearned score.
On Saturday, she started against Rockhurst and produced 15 strikeouts before taking down another 10 against Midwestern State in the weekend finale. In OBU's 10-inning win over MSU, Jones secured the victory as she struck out the last three Mustang batters.
This season, Jones has an 0.19 ERA in 37.1 innings pitched. She has allowed one earned run and totals 64 strikeouts, the most in Division II. Furthermore, Jones is tied with four others in the country for the most wins this season.
Jones and the Bison will return to action this weekend at the Emporia State Classic in Kansas.
