RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist's
Asley Baker and
Alanna Bloomingdale were named Great American Conference Players of the Week on Tuesday after the Bison dialed up two wins last week.
For Baker, a junior defender, it is her first career honor while for Bloomingdale, a senior forward, her second.
Last week, OBU earned a 3-1 win at Harding and a 1-0 shutout against Ouachita. Those victories moved the Bison into first place of the GAC.
Baker led a Bison defense which allowed just seven shots on goal to their opponents. The team's win against the Tigers, a 1-0 shutout, was OBU's sixth clean sheet of the year, second-most in the GAC.
As for Bloomingdale, she tallied a team-high two goals including the game-winner against Ouachita. Her performances boosted her season total to five goals and 11 points, both top-five marks in the league.
Baker, Bloomingdale and the rest of the Bison return to action on Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
