SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist men's basketball staff has announced the addition of four signees to the 2022 recruiting class, bringing the class total to seven.
The latest additions include three transfers, Bradley Akhile (Incarnate Word), Caleb Riggs (Mid-America Christian), and Paul King (Alcorn State), as well as high school signee Joshua Udoumoh (Victory Christian).
Akhile (6-7, 200), a forward, joins the Bison after a two-year stint at the University of Incarnate Word. Akhile has one year of eligibility remaining.
The Houston, Texas, native racked up 136 points and 59 rebounds in two seasons with the Cardinals, averaging 4.4 ppg in 2020. This past season, Akhile recorded a career-high 15 points against McNeese State and three steals versus Southeastern Louisiana.
Prior to UIW, Akhile played two seasons (2018-19) at Gillette Community College in Wyoming. Akhile helped the Pronghorns to a 26-6 record in 2019 after averaging 10.9 ppg and shooting 47.0 percent from the floor, which earned a third-team all-region selection. In his freshman season at Gillette, Akhile knocked down 46.1 percent of his attempts from deep and was second on the team in scoring (14.8 ppg).
Riggs (6-4, 190), a guard, joins the Bison after two seasons at Mid-America Christian. Riggs has one year of eligibility remaining.
The Okay, Oklahoma, native logged 990 minutes, played 43 games, and scored 463 points in his career with MACU. In 2021, Riggs posted his best season, leading his team from beyond the arc with 89 three-pointers and scoring 12.3 ppg. Riggs ranked third in the Sooner Athletic Conference in three-pointers made and three-point percentage (39.3%). Furthermore, he recorded a career-high 33 points against Langston University (Okla.), highlighted by nine three-pointers that tied the Mid-America single-game record.
Prior to MACU, Riggs spent his sophomore and freshman seasons at Connors State College in Oklahoma. As a sophomore in 2019, he finished third on the team in scoring with 377 points (12.6 ppg), shooting 40.5 percent from the floor, and knocked down a team-best 88 three-pointers (39.1%).
King (5-11, 190), a guard, comes to Shawnee after spending the 2021-22 season at Alcorn State University. King has two years of eligibility remaining.
This past season, the Monroe, Louisiana, native appeared in 23 games with four starts. King averaged 6.1 points on 35.0 percent shooting and made 25-34 (73.5%) from the free-throw line. In his second start of the season, he scored a season-high 21 points against Tulsa, highlighted by a trio of three-pointers. King also recorded a career-best four steals against Oklahoma.
Prior to ASU, King played two seasons at Bossier-Parish Community College. He saw action in 53 games, drew 25 starts, and totaled 734 points. King completed his two-year stint with a career-scoring average of 13.8 ppg, including an average of 18.4 ppg in his last season.
Udoumoh (6-4, 200), a guard, will join the Bison in the fall after a stellar high school career at Victory Christian.
The Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, native averaged 18.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in his senior campaign, capped by a 4A Oklahoma state title appearance. Udoumoh was the 4A state tournament's leading scorer with 54 points in three games.
Other notable performances came against Holland Hall (32 points) and Weatherford (19 points, nine rebounds) in the 4A state semifinals. Additionally, Udoumoh was tabbed the Port City Classic's MVP after a 28-point performance versus Edison and named the Pinnacle Conference MVP.
Udoumoh registered 1,308 points, 553 rebounds, 232 assists, 138 steals, and 47 blocks at Victory Christian.
