SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist men's basketball program added its eighth signee to the 2022 recruiting class as head coach Jason Eaker and staff announced the signing of Kayden Carter.
Carter (6'7, 205), a forward, joins the Bison after spending one season at Seminole State College. Carter has three years of eligibility remaining.
This past season, he averaged 10.8 ppg and scored 292 points for the Trojans. Carter saw action in 27 games and made 23 starts, logging 255 minutes. Carter led Seminole State with a 57.4 percent field-goal percentage, netting 116 of his 202 attempts, and ranked 29th nationally in blocks (53).
Carter brought down 152 rebounds, averaging 5.6 per game, to rank second on the squad and registered 24 assists.
The forward reached double digits in 15 different contests, including a couple of 23-point performances against Eastern Oklahoma State and Murray State College. In the Trojans' 102-96 victory over Eastern Oklahoma, Carter finished 10-12 (83.3%) from the floor to tally his second-best field-goal percentage of the 2021-22 season.
Earlier in the season, on November 5, 2021, he scored 19 on 9-10 shooting in MSC's win over Next Level Prep. Carter shot over 50 percent in 13 games with at least five field-goal attempts.
Carter, a native of Norman, Oklahoma, attended high school at Norman North, where he graduated in 2021.
"We are excited to announce Kayden is signing with our program," Eaker said. "He's a good guy with size and skill that can ball. He was born and raised an Oklahoma kid, which is important to our recruiting imprint. All he needed was an opportunity to become a difference-maker in a great program. Kayden is going to be successful here."
