NORMAN, Okla. – Three women, Emma Downing, Mary McKey, and Kayla McGruder, took first place in their events to highlight OBU's action at the Sooner Invitational on Saturday in Norman.
Downing claimed top honors in the 1500m with a time of 4:38.82, a season-best, and earned a third-place finish in the 5000m (17:45.29).
Mary McKey posted the first NCAA Division II provisional time for OBU's women this season, winning the 400m hurdles in 1:00.41. The mark is the seventh-fastest time in Division II this season and is a personal best for McKey.
Kayla McGruder won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:58.81, ahead of second-place Kaylen King's 12:15.09 finish. King's placing was the highest individual placing of her career.
The foursome of Addison Brooks, Tizhane Brooks, Mary McKey, and Taylor James took second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:56.64.
Freshman Caitlin Mannon rounds out the women's notables with a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw after a hurl of 156-11 (47.83).
In the men's action, freshman Aaryn Anderson's third-place finish in the 110 hurdles earned him the highest placing for the Bison. Anderson clocked a time of 15.16.
Jentezen Smith followed Anderson in fourth with a time of 15.29, a personal best.
Shirvante Knauls earned sixth in the 400m (48.59), while Zane Nutter claimed fourth in the men's decathlon with 5,894 points.
In the field events, Alexander Schovanec finished fifth in the discus after a throw of 166-2 (50.66).
Oklahoma Baptist returns to action on April 27-30 at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
