SHAWNEE – Senior guard Burke Putnam has been named to the D2CCA All-Central Region Second-Team, announced by the D2CCA Committee on Friday evening.
Today is just one of the many postseason accolades that Putnam has garnered, as he was tabbed the Great American Conference Newcomer of the Year and a member of the All-GAC First Team last week.
The guard becomes the first Bison to garner the nod from the D2CCA in the Division II era.
Putnam burst onto the scene this season, averaging a GAC-best 20.0 points per game while shooting 47.9 percent from the floor. Nationally, he finished ranked 21st in points per game. His 216 made field-goals rank eighth all-time in the conference record books, while his scoring average is 14th in OBU history. He scored a total of 580 points this season, the most by a player since the Oklahoma Baptist joined the Division II. All time, the single season mark is tied for 31st in the Bison record books.
Putnam ends his career with 1,921 points, as 1,341 of that total comes from previous stops at Connors State and Valdosta State.
