TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State (13-3) earned an 11-1 win against Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday in non-conference action at Rousey Field.
The Riverhawks held the green and gold to season-lows in hits (3) and runs (1) by game's end.
Within the first trio of innings, NSU pitchers Lee Callisan and Kender Carroll allowed just one Bison (5-9) runner to reach scoring position.
The Bison staff got off to a good start too with
Brek Galbreath. He only allowed a run in the first couple of frames.
Once the third inning rolled around though, the Riverhawks found all the run support they needed.
Leading 1-0, NSU notched three straight singles to start the third. What followed were three consecutive RBIs. Brayden Rodden, C.D. White and Blake Freeman all collected those and pushed the host's advantage to 4-0.
The Bison did crack into the deficit in the fourth on a run-scoring single from
Ramon Gomez which plated
Dan Pruitt. OBU still had two runners in scoring position after that, but a tag-out at home and fly-out to left ended the threat.
On the pitching front,
Devin Crawford did keep the score close at 5-1, NSU, as the righty notched a pair of strikeouts in two innings of work.
Despite a manageable deficit, the Bison offense just could not get in gear. Then in the sixth, NSU plated five more runs.
OBU returns to action on Friday, March 4 for a home GAC contest against Southwestern at 5 p.m.
