Bison Wrap Up Indoor Season in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. – The Oklahoma Baptist track & field teams concluded their indoor season as hosts of the OBU/GAC Last Chance meet in Wichita on Saturday, where they posted multiple first-place finishes.

The women came away with 10 first-place finishes, highlighted by a pair of top marks from Dawnnae Chatman and Emma Downing.

Chatman took first in the 60m (7.80) and 200m (25.72), as the finish in the 60m was an indoor season-best. Downing earned top honors in the mile and 3000m, clearing the finish line in 5:07.92 and 10:44.02.

Tahlor Brown claimed first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.95 seconds, her best of the indoor season, while Mark McKey and Isabell Lotz followed at the two (9.11) and three (9.18) spots.

Addison Brooks took second in the women's 400m (57.66), while Olivia Lynch earned second in the 5000m after logging a time of 19:24.95.

Notables in the field events were Anisha Henderson, who placed first in the long jump (5.51m), and Katie Carter's second place mark in the pole vault (1.47m). Henderson also finished second in the triple jump (11.58m). Additionally, freshman Caitlin Mannon took top honors in the weight throw (16.51m), her personal best.

Elisabeth Jones finished first in the pentathlon with 3,148 points, the highest mark of her career. The team of Kayla McGruder, Taylor James, Addison Brooks, and Emma Downing took first place in the distance medley relay with a season-best time of 12:02.19.

The 4x4 relay team of Addison Brooks, Tizhane Brooks, Mary McKey, and Taylor James took first in 3:54.55 to wrap up the women's action.

Four received top honors on the men's side over the two-day event. Mahcoe Smith recorded his best time of the season in the 60m (6.80 ), while Joshua Strauss finished the 400m in 51.25 seconds to claim first placings. Sophomore Maxamillian Wheeler and Carson Kardokus rounds off the top placings with finishes in the 5000m (15:21.22) and 3000m (8:56.90).

Additionally, Smith took second in the 200m (22.86), Wheeler earned second in the 800m (1:58.18), and Kardokus claimed second in the mile (4:24.56).

The DMR team of Noah Eskew, Shirvante Knauls, Christian Arenivar, and Cameron Mills took home first place after completing the event in 10:15.33. Furthermore, the 4x4 relay team of Sayvon Milton, Marcus Peterson, Knauls, and Jax Holland claimed top honors in 3:19.76.

Notable marks in the field events were first-place finishes in the weight throw (17.34m) and shot put (15.25m) for Matthew Higdon and Alexander Schovanec. Additionally, Isaiah Willis placed second in the long jump (6.97m), while Marquez Cyrus took second in the high jump (1.85m).
