Three Bison Named to All-GAC First Team

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist women's soccer players Katie Fowler, Kaylee Swaner and Maddison Williams were named to the All-Great American Conference First Team on Wednesday night.

It's Fowler's second career honor and first time being named to the top team. As for Swaner, she has now garnered three All-GAC accolades while Williams earned her fourth, making her just one of five Bison players all-time to earn that many.

Additionally, Fowler and Williams earned GAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete honors.

During the regular season, Fowler was second in the GAC in goals scored with nine. She also ranked in the top-three in assists, shots on goal and game-winners. A native of Norman, Fowler's best game came at Ouachita on Sept. 22 when she scored a hat trick during the 5-3 comeback victory.

Swaner, a crafty midfielder from Rockwall, Texas, earned first-team honors for the second time in her career. She started all 18 matches this fall for the Bison and produced a trio of goals and an assist. During the Oct. 18 home match versus Southern Nazarene, Swaner scored twice, a season-best.

Rounding out OBU's selections was Williams, a senior from Allen, Texas. A standout defender, she helped the Bison to five clean sheets during conference competition. And as of late, Williams and the green and gold's defense has conceded just three goals the last six games.
