RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Freshman Morgan Becker has been named the GAC Golfer of the Week for a second consecutive time following her performance at the Grace Shin Invitational.
A week ago, Becker became the first freshman in program history to earn Player of the Week honors. Today, she expands on an outstanding debut season, becoming the first OBU golfer to garner back-to-back weekly conference recognitions since the program joined Division II.
The Southlake, Texas, native posted rounds of 73 (+2) and 78 (+7) in Edmond. Becker paced the Bison in the opening round, tying for fourth, as an even finish through the front nine and back-to-back birdies on the back stretch highlighted the run.
Becker made par on 12 of 19 holes in the final round to bring her tournament total to 26, the best among 57 participants, and tie for a final placing of ninth.
Becker and company will compete in their final tournament of the fall on Oct. 17-18 at the Midwest Classic in Maryville, MO.
