RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist soccer players
Mia Pendleton and
Kaylee Swaner were named Great American Conference Players of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
The awards come after Pendleton, a junior goalie, secured two shutouts against Southern Nazarene and East Central, while Swaner, a junior midfielder, wreaked havoc against SNU's back line with a pair of goals during the Oct. 18 match in Shawnee.
For each player, it is their third career accolades.
In addition to attaining two clean sheets against the Crimson Storm and Tigers, Pendleton collected four saves in 180 minutes of action. Those marks boosted her standing within the GAC. To date, Pendleton, a native of nearby Choctaw, Okla., sits fourth in goals against average (1.80) and third in shutouts (4).
Swaner dialed up a goal in each half against SNU last week, a 4-0 Bison win. She was efficient too, scoring twice on three shots on-goal. This season, Swaner is tied for third in the GAC with a pair of game-winning goals.
OBU returns to the pitch in two days with a trip to Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva for a 6 p.m. conference match.
