MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team is in sixth place after round one of action at the Midwest Fall Classic in Missouri.
Due to freezing temperatures, round two at the Mozingo Lake Club began early for the 17-team field. OBU's five finished the first 18 and made it five holes into the closing round before the tournament ceased play until Tuesday.
The Bison shot 54-over 342, 19 strokes less than the event's leader, nationally ranked Augustana.
Morgan Becker paces OBU in a tie for sixth after an inaugural round 80 (+8). Becker made par on 10 holes to go along with a birdie on hole two to highlight her run.
Josie Patterson shot a stroke under at 81 (+9), good for eighth place. After carding eight-over par on the back nine, Patterson improved on the turn to post a team-best 37 (+1).
Rounding out OBU's placings in the top 50 is Lindyn Ross, whose 15-over 87 landed the sophomore in a tie for 36th.
Valentina Nunez-Butzonitch and Karlee Holcomb are tied at 75th and 98th, respectively. Nunez-Butzonitch shot a 94 (+22), while Holcomb turned in a 105 (+3).
Oklahoma Baptist will finish the final round in Missouri tomorrow. Becker is currently six-over par through five holes on the back nine, while Ross is three-over after four.
Patterson is five strokes above par through five, while Holcomb and Nunez-Butzonitch are eight-over and one-over.
