Bison Aiming for Bounce-Back Week

GAC statistical page had yet to be updated on release of this preview

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist finds itself in unfamiliar territory with two weeks remaining in the regular season. The Bison are 4-7-1 overall and are holding on to the fourth and final playoff spot in the Great American Conference with a 3-2-1 record.

This week, OBU hosts Harding and Ouachita on Oct. 13 and 15, respectively. The match versus HU starts at 5 p.m. before Saturday's game against the Tigers is set to start at 11 a.m. Earlier this fall, the Bison rallied for a 5-3 victory at Ouachita before edging Harding 1-0.

In series history, the Bison have an 11-3 advantage over Harding while holding a 9-7-1 lead against Ouachita.

OBU's four wins through 11 contests are the second fewest since the program made the move to NCAA Division II at the start of the 2015 campaign. During that season, the team had a trio of wins in the same number of games.

Last week, against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern, the green and gold were shut out and conceded seven goals. Six of those were scored by the Bulldogs, the most ever allowed by the Bison defense in the GAC era.

Harding has had a tough go this season. The Lady Bisons are 1-8-3 and 0-4-2 in the conference. To date, they have gone winless in their last seven contests (0-5-2). About a week ago, HU lost at home to East Central 3-0. Additionally, the Lady Bisons have not won at Shawnee in their last three tries. HU's last win at OBU came Sept. 22, 2016.

Concluding the week will be a morning match against Ouachita. The Tigers (7-4-1, 4-1-1 GAC) have gone unbeaten in their last four matches (3-0-1) after a 3-1 home win against East Central on Oct. 9. Ouachita will have plenty on its mind when it plays OBU again. They blew a 3-0 lead against the Bison back during the Sept. 22 match in Arkadelphia.

Of note, Ouachita has won the last three times its ventured to Shawnee.
