OBU Mourns Loss of Hall of Famer Allen Eaker

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist University and the Department of Athletics mourn the loss of Hall of Famer Allen Eaker who passed away on Jan. 20.
 
A member of OBU's 1966 NAIA national champion basketball team, Eaker was a four-year letterwinner for the Bison, playing in 14 career NAIA Tournament games, second all-time to fellow Hall of Famer and teammate Al Tucker, and earning honorable mention All-America status in 1967.
 
Originally from Oklahoma City, Eaker was also a four-year starter for the Bison baseball team, hitting .352 for his career and being named all-conference three times.
 
After graduating from OBU, he earned his MBA at Texas Tech University where he also served as the freshman basketball coach. Eaker enjoyed a highly successful career as a representative at Edward Jones before retiring to Scottsdale, Arizona.
 
A dedicated benefactor to his alma mater, he was the recipient of the university's Alumni Achievement Award in 2009. He is the father of OBU head basketball coach Jason Eaker.
