SHAWNEE – Former Oklahoma Baptist University pitcher Taylor Hearn turned in his best performance yet this past Sunday, August 29.
In a 13-2 Texas Rangers win over the Houston Astros, the lefty threw a career-high 89 pitches over 6 2/3 innings. In that span, he struck out a half-dozen batters with no walks and allowed just two runs. Hearn was perfect through four frames, as well, against the potent Houston lineup.
To date, the Royse City, Texas native has made six starts, tossed 77.1 innings, notched four victories, 77 strikeouts and posted a 3.96 earned-run average.
Hearn was a member of the Bison baseball team during the 2015 season. The 6-foot-6 southpaw went 9-0 that spring with a 3.50 ERA as the team made it all the way to the NAIA World Series. Hearn was drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 MBL Draft by the Washington Nationals.
