SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist University women's golf team was recognized this week by the Women's Golf Coaches Association as one of the nation's top 25 programs based on overall grade point average.

The Bison ranked No. 21 in NCAA Division II with a combined team GPA of 3.681. OBU was the only team from the Great American Conference to earn a spot in the top 25.

Nine undergraduate members of the 2021 team earned recognition on OBU's Athletics Director's Honor Roll following the spring term, including three – freshman
Rylei Gunter, and juniors
Izzy Lette and
Josie Patterson – who achieved 4.0 GPAs.

Davenport University was the 2020-21 WGCA All-Scholar Team for Division II, posting a team GPA of 3.915.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition.
