STUNT Finishes Runner-Up at National Championship

SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist STUNT team capped a terrific season with a second place finish in the Division I/II National Championship Game on Saturday afternoon inside the Noble Complex.

OBU opened the tournament with a dominant victory over Maryville on Friday as they swept their way to an 18-0 victory over the Saints. The Bison scored multiple points in each quarter and built a huge lead and never looked back.

That set up a morning meeting with Cal Baptist, the two top teams in the country, as the Lancers pulled away for an 18-10 win to punch their ticket to the championship game.

The Bison had to work back through the loser's bracket and earned a dominant 18-4 win over Concordia (Calif.) to move into the finals and set up a showdown of No. 1 vs. No. 2.

Despite a tremendous effort, OBU found themselves down 8-4 at the break. The Lancers extended their lead in the third and closed with a strong fourth quarter to take the 19-11 win.

OBU closes the season with a 7-2 record under Head Coach Jessica Stiles. STUNT is now an emerging sport in the NCAA and will look to become a full varsity sport in the near future.
