MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Oklahoma Baptist baseball team bounced back to take game three of the series against Southern Arkansas 7-6. OBU now sits in third place in the Great American Conference with a league record of 17-7 (19-10 overall).Â
Â
The Bison faced a familiar situation as in the first game of the series, entering the bottom of the ninth with a narrow lead. In game one, the Muleriders offense had gotten the better of the Bison, winning on a walk-off home run. In this game, the Bison entered the bottom half of the inning with a three-run lead. Bison pitcher
Tyler Frank opened the inning, immediately getting the first two outs on three at bats. Only Riley Orr made it on base for the Muleriders. Frank then faltered a little bit allowing the bases to be loaded and posted back-to-back runs when he hit Tucker Burton, allowing Orr to score and walked Brett McGee, allowing Kobe Morris to score. Just the game was beginning to look like a repeat of game one, Frank found his resolve and got the final out on Ty Manning, sealing the Bison 7-6 win.Â
Â
Kevin Saenz and
Colin Prince combined for four RBIs and were responsible for four of the seven runs scored. Saenz got his first RBI in the top of the fourth when he was walked on, allowing
Kaimana Bartolome to score. His second RBI came in the top of the fifth when he doubled to left field, sending
Eric Carlson home. Prince got his two RBIs at one time when he smashed a double into left center field. This hit sent
Hector Ruvalcaba and
Ramon Enriquez home.
Â
The other three runs scored came off a home run, an RBI single, and a wild pitch. Enriquez hit the solo home run in the top of the fifth, Bartolome hit the RBI single in the top of the sixth, and finally
Walker Keller scored the game-sealing seventh run on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth.Â
Â
Bo Dallas chalked up his third win of the season, pitching a total of 6.2 innings with seven hits, four runs, and two strikeouts. Frank also earned his second save of the season, having pitched 2.1 innings while allowing zero earned runs, zero hits, and six strikeouts.
Â
Up next, the baseball team will welcome in Arkansas-Monticello for its ninth GAC weekend series. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Friday, April 23.
