SHAWNEE –
OklahomaSports.net released its 2021 All-OSN Volleyball Team and five Oklahoma Baptist volleyball players were honored, headlined by
Malia Leatherland who earned Player of the Year honors.
OBU completed an outstanding fall campaign by posting a 23-4 record and winning its third straight Great American Conference Regular Season Title.
Leatherland, who was the GAC's Player of the Year and an All-Tournament Team selection, posted 11 double-doubles and ranked second in the GAC in kills (3.42) and points (3.81). During the season, she became the GAC career leader in both of those categories.
Buell, a fellow senior, averaged 10.01 assists per set. That mark was second-best in the GAC. She, too, was an All-Tournament Team selection for OBU and earned second-team honors. Buell was also a solid piece to the Bison defense, securing 287 digs this fall.
The third OSN First Team honoree was Hellmuth. The sophomore was seventh in the GAC in hitting percentage (.288) and eleventh in points (3.15). Her 231 kills ranked third on the team as well. Hellmuth also earned All-GAC Honorable Mention accolades.
Brown and Poupard rounded out OBU's OSN recognition. Along the right side, Brown notched a career-best 2.66 kills per set. She was an All-GAC Second Team member after ranking sixth in attack percentage (.289), eighth in blocks (0.83) and tenth in points (3.18).
For Poupard, she was the GAC leader in blocks, 1.28, a mark that also ranked her tenth in the country. The middle blocker also ranked tenth in the conference in attack percentage (.270). Additionally, Poupard earned All-GAC Honorable Mention honors.
