Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Oklahoma Baptist University volleyball team was recognized on Tuesday afternoon as they were awarded the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2019-2020 season.

The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.

"This is an incredible honor for our team," said Head Coach Anna Howle. "To be able to make history this season on the court while also still being honored for our accomplishments off the court is a testament to how hard this group works and how incredible they truly are. I could not be more proud of a team that has set the bar so high for years to come."

Oklahoma Baptist closes the season with a 28-6 overall record in 2019 including a 14-2 record in the GAC, the GAC Regular Season Championship, the GAC Tournament Champion, a berth into their first ever NCAA Regional, and their first ever All-American selection in Malia Leatherland.
