Bison Clinch Conference After Three-Win Day

Oklahoma City, Okla. – Sealing the deal on the conference championship, the Oklahoma Baptist's STUNT team finished its regular season with three wins against Maryville, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma St. 18-2, 19-8, and 15-10, respectively. Those three wins also earned them the No. 2 spot in the nation.

Beginning the day with No. 3 Maryville, OBU gained momentum in the first quarter after claiming all four points in the first round stunts. OBU retained control throughout, only giving up one point in both the second and fourth quarter.

OBU kept rolling against Tech, allowing the Red Raiders only one point from a tie in the first quarter, with the quarter ending 4-1 in OBU's favor. After splitting with the Raiders in the second, the Bison finished strong by only allowing a total of four points out of a possible 13. This was the second victory OBU has seen over the Red Raiders on the season, defeating them 19-10 back in February.

The final regular season match for OBU was the Division I top ranked OSU Cowgirls. The two teams' first meeting this season was in a scrimmage all the way back in November. The Bison took that contest 18-5.

OBU cruised through the first quarter, claiming all four points in the stunt round. The Bison went on to split the four points in the second, with OBU up 6-2 heading into the break.

Both teams saw another split in the third quarter. OBU broke it open, however, in the fourth, claiming points from the highest difficulty routine in pyramids and STUNT 7. STUNT 7 won the point every time it took the mat, helping OBU to a 15-10 win.

Ending the year on a seven match win streak in route to a 10-2 record, OBU looks to qualify for the national championships for the fifth year in a row. The postseason tournament will take place the first weekend of May at the University of Oklahoma.
