BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Rashad Lewis,
Jaquan Simms, and
Harrison Stoddart have each been named to the 2020 Great American Conference All-Conference Team on Wednesday evening at Bartlesville ISD.
All three earned spots on the honorable mention team. OBU enters the weekend with a 20-8 record, its best since joining NCAA Division II, and a 15-7 mark in the GAC. The Bison were also 13-1 at home as they compiled the program's top overall record since the 2012-13 season.
Lewis, a graduate student from Valdosta, Georgia, returned from injury with an incredible season where he was second on the team in scoring with 12.1 points per game to go with 4.2 assists per game and 30 steals. Lewis dominated the month of February which included a buzzer beater to defeat Henderson State on Feb. 1, a game-winning assist to defeat Southern Nazarene on Feb. 13, and a dominant Arkansas weekend that saw 24.0 points per game and huge shots to take home GAC Player of the Week.
Simms, a junior from Covington, Georgia, has cooled off as of late, but has been the top performer for OBU most of the season, leading the team with 12.4 points per game to go with a team-leading 31 steals. Against Harding on Jan. 9, Simms knocked down eight 3-pointers to go with 31 points in the contest to lead the Bison to a convincing win.
Stoddart, a junior from Edmond, is third on the team in scoring with 11.7 points per game to go with 5.4 rebounds per game. He also leads the conference in total blocks (38) and blocks per game (1.36). Stoddart has had double digit scoring in nine out of the last 10 games played for the Bison, and it is no secret the that has led to success as OBU was 8-2 in those contests.
The Bison will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming GAC Tournament. OBU opens with fifth-seeded East Central on Friday at 12 p.m. OBU will also look to secure a spot in the 2020 NCAA Tournament as they cling onto the No. 8 seed in the last regional rankings.
