ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- The Oklahoma Baptist baseball team opend up the Henderson State Invitational with a statement win over Newman. The Bison improve their season record to 3-1. The Bison's offensive prowess was once again on display as they took down the Jets 7-1.

Jake Lipetzky delivered a stellar performance on the mound for the Bison. He pitched six complete innings with no runs allowed, 12 strikeouts, and only one hit. This is the third time in his career as a Bison he allowed no runs. Kase Warner was the run leader for the Bison putting up two runs. Ramon Gomez, Ramon Enriquez, Eric Carlson, Kaimana Bartolome, and Colin Prince all put up a single run apiece, with Carlson's run coming off a two-run home run he smashed out of the park. Gomez led the team in hits with three and posted an RBI. Carlson and Bartolome came in second on hits and RBIs with two apiece. Joey Pledger joined in fun batting in two runners on a single and a double in the final two innings.Â

Carlson got the runs rolling for the Bison in the bottom of the second inning. Carlson hit a two-run home run out of the park, batting in Bartolome. The next flurry of runs for the Bison came in the bottom of the seventh. After Newman was able to bring the game back within one run the Bison put up a four-run seventh. Pledger got the scoring underway when he grounded out to the shortstop which allowed Prince to score and Warner to advance to third. Gomez then followed up Pledger with an RBI single to right field, allowing Warner to score. Bartolome then capped off the four-run inning when he hit a 2-RBI single to right field, which led to Enriquez and Gomez scoring. The Bison polished off the afternoon scoring one more run in the bottom of the eighth when Pledger hit an RBI double, batting in Warner.Â

Up next for the Bison is the University of Central Oklahoma as they continue to play in the Henderson State Invitational. The first pitch is set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.Â
