SHAWNEE - The Oklahoma Baptist softball team looks to bounce back after a tough opening weekend as they head to Texas for the Lubbock Christian Invitational with four games on tap for the weekend.
The Bison open things on Friday as they take on Texas Permian Basin and New Mexico Highlands at 12:15 PM and 7:00 PM on Friday before returning on Saturday afternoon with a 10:00 AM game against Chadron State before closing with host Lubbock Christian at 2:30 PM. Only two games will feature live stats in the UTPB and Lubbock Christian games.
OBU had a tough start to the year, dropping all their contests a week ago in Vegas at the Desert Stinger. With a young team on hand, the Bison will look to make strides going into this weekend's games.
Katelyn Marsh comes off a nice weekend as she was 7 of 14 at the plate including a RBI while
Emily Smith hit .286 from the dish including a double, a home run, a RBI, and three runs scored.Â
Jadyn James hit .267 on the week with two RBI while
Shelby Savage and
Emily Richardson each scored a pair of runs last week. Richardson was hit by a pitch on four seperate occasions. Savage and
Kylie Kawamura each had a stolen base in Vegas.
Four different pitchers saw action in Vegas in
Katie Long,
Bayle Short,
Kayleigh Jones, and
Aspen Younce. Long finished with 16 strikeouts for the weekend while Jones and Younce each had four. Long pitched 14.1 innings for the weekend while Jones and Young each had seven innings a piece.Â
The Bison will have to improve at the plate as opponents currently have a 1.70 ERA against the OBU offense.
