Baseball Opens Conference Season with Win in Durant

DURANT, Okla. – The Oklahoma Baptist baseball team continues to impress as they open up their series with Southeastern Oklahoma State with a 7-4 win. The Bison offense continues to dominate the competition with another multi run win. Pitcher Jake Lipetzky turned in another stellar performance on the mound to bring his season record to 2-1.
 
Lipetzky pitched an incredible 6.2 innings, he only gave up one run and two hits against 27 batters. He struck-out eight batters and pitched a staggering 107 pitches. Nick Perry got his first save of the season having pitched the final 1.2 innings. He only allowed one run and struck-out three.
 
Ramon Enriquez led the Bison offense posting one run, three hits, and three RBIs. Cliff Pradd and Joey Pledger followed up Enriquez with a run, a hit, and two RBIs apiece. Kase Warner and Hector Ruvalcaba both posted a run and two hits. Eric Carlson finished with a run and a hit, and Kaimana Bartolome rounded out the scoring with a run.
 
All of the Bison scoring came in the top of the sixth Bartolome got on base on a throwing error and Carlson walked. Ruvalcaba singled which advanced the runners. Pledger then followed Ruvalcaba and hit an RBI double to right field sending Carlson and Bartolome home. Warner then was walked and Pradd followed with an RBI double down the left line, Pledger and Ruvalcaba scored. Ramon then hit a bomb out of the park, sending Pradd and Warner home. This gave the Bison the game sealing seventh run.
 
The Savage storm clawed their way back putting up four runs in the remaining innings, but the resilient pitching staff got the crucial outs and the Bison took game one 7-4.
 
The Bison will continue the series this Saturday, Feb. 17 with a double header. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
