SHAWNEE - The Oklahoma Baptist softball team will keep it local this upcoming weekend as they compete in the OC/UCO Invitational on the campuses of Oklahoma Christian and Central Oklahoma.
The Bison will battle Colorado State - Pueblo at 12 PM on Friday before returning to action on Sunday with a doubleheader against Fort Hays State at 2 PM at OC and Rogers State at 6 PM at UCO.
After a tough start in Las Vegas, the Bison got back in track in Lubbock with a 3-1 weekend thanks to three wins from freshman pitcher
Aspen Younce. Younce pitched 14.2 innings and allowed only six runs to go with 22 strikeouts to only seven walks. All of her appearances came in relief as she fanned 10 batters alone in the win over Texas Permian Basin.
OBU also got some offense going, scoring over 10 runs in the first three contests. One of the big contributors was
Katelyn Marsh, who his .615 over the weekend with three doubles, a home run, and nine RBI. Marsh leads the team with a .556 average and 10 RBI early in the season.
Jadyn James checks in with a .367 clip while
Emily Richardson is batting .308 with seven runs scored.
Kylie Kawamura hits .294 on the year with seven runs scored while
Emily Smith leads the way in home runs with two.
Cheyenne Demaree is second on the team with eight RBI as she had two go-ahead RBI hits in two wins this past weekend.
Katie Long still leads the team with a 4.32 ERA while
Kayleigh Jones and
Bayle Short are expected to also see action in the circle.
