SHAWNEE -- The Oklahoma Baptist women's basketball team fell to Henderson State, 98-84, in a Saturday afternoon matinee game at the Noble Complex. The Bison battled hard in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Reddies 29-18, but the deficit was just a little too much to overcome.Â
OBU shot 23-64 (35.9%) from the field and five Bison ended the night in double figures. Jaylin Stapleton led the way with a season-high 23 points. McKenzie Cooper and Charissa Price both added 14 points and four rebounds apiece. Price also added three assists and three steals. Brianna Marshall was third on the team with 12 points while also putting up a block. Melissa Southard rounded out the top performers, posting a season-high 10 points and leading the team with five rebounds.Â
The Bison fell behind 80-55 after three quarters, but OBU found its spark in the final period and net gained back 11. Unfortunately for OBU, the spark came a little too late and the Bison were not able to make up the difference.
The Bison will look to regroup as they welcome in Southeastern Oklahoma State to the Noble Complex next Thursday, Feb. 6, with tip off set for 5:30 p.m.
