OBU Battles Hard to Close Out Road Trip

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- The Oklahoma Baptist women's basketball team fell to Ouachita Baptist in a Saturday afternoon showdown, 71-62. The Bison kept the game close through the first three quarters, but unfortunately OBU was not able to answer back as the Tigers offense came alive in the final 15 minutes.

OBU finished the afternoon shooting 26-67 (38.8%) from the field. The Bison bench had a strong outing, putting up 33 points. Briana Marshall led the team with 21 points and chalked up an assist and a block. McKenzie Cooper capped off her day with 17 points and two steals. She shot 7-15 from the field and put up 3-6 from behind the arc. Charissa Price rounded out the top three for the Bison putting up 10 points with five rebounds and a steal.

OBU came out of the gate firing taking an early five-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Marshall put six of the Bison's 17 first quarter points. Cooper ended the quarter by putting up a three point shot in the final second. The Tigers were able to rally back to take a five point lead on the strength of a 13-3 run to end the first half.

The Bison started the second half strong, and kept the game close through the first five minutes of the third. In that stretch, OBU was able to tie up the contest three times and took a slight lead. Unfortunately for the Bison, the Tigers came alive and went on a 18-5 run to take 13-point lead at the end of the third.

The Bison were unable to answer in the fourth quarter having only been able to net gain back two points.

The Bison are set to return to action this week with a pair of Great American Conference matchups against Harding and Arkansas Tech. OBU will be looking to earn its first conference win of the season as they take on the Bisons on Thursday and Golden Suns on Saturday at the Noble Complex. Tipoff for the games are set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. Saturday, respectively.
