SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist baseball team is set to open 2020 this weekend as they take on Missouri Western in a three-game series. OBU is coming off a banner 2019 year, having gone 35-21 and earning a Great American Conference Tournament championship and an NCAA Central Regional appearance.
Â
The Bison will look to continue that momentum as they head into the 2020 season. OBU will also be starting the season with a new coach for the first time in 35 years. Legendary coach Bobby Cox decided in the off-season to call it a career. However, the Cox family tradition continues on Bison Hill as Bobby's son,
Chris Cox, was elevated to head coach.Â
Â
Some key members of last year's regional run return, including senior catcher
Ramon Enriquez, who earned All-American status in 2019.
First pitch is set for Friday, Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. from the newly-branded Bobby Cox Field at Ford Park. Admission is free, and fans in attendance will have the opportunity to get an official 2020 team poster.
