Bison Basketball Releases 2019-20 Schedule

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist head coach Jason Eaker officially announced the Bison's 2019-20 schedule Wednesday. The challenging slate includes 22 Great American Conference matchups, as well as non-league games against some of the top teams in the region.

"Our schedule is a reflection of who we want to be aligned with in the Division II era of OBU basketball," Eaker said. "We'll be challenged at every turn starting with our ambitious non-conference slate."

The Bison open the 2019-20 campaign on Halloween night in an exhibition matchup against longtime Sooner Athletic Conference rival Oklahoma City University. OBU will then play host to the Central Region Challenge, facing off against the University of Nebraska at Kearney on Nov. 8, followed by a visit from Wayne State on Nov. 9.

Eaker's squad will then hit the road for a pair of non-conference contests, visiting Tarleton State on Nov. 14, and Rogers State on Nov. 16 before jumping in to the early slate of GAC contests.

"To open our season at the Noble Complex hosting teams from the Northern Sun and MIAA in a Conference Challenge will give our fans a great introduction to quality Division II basketball," Eaker said. "Then to immediately follow those two games up with road trips to Tarleton State and Rogers State will give our coaching staff and players instant feedback on where we stand competitively before we dive right into conference play."

The Bison open GAC play on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State on Nov. 21. OBU split the regular season series with the Savage Storm last year before falling to their rivals from Durant in the conference tournament semifinals.

A visit to East Central (Dec. 7), and home contests against Northwestern Oklahoma State (Nov. 23) and SWOSU (Dec. 14) conclude the early conference slate.

"The GAC obviously is on the rise regionally and nationally in men's basketball and this upcoming season will only add to the profile of the conference in my opinion," Eaker said. "We tell our players all the time that it's an honor to represent OBU through our passion for basketball."

The Bison will head to Edmond Dec. 17 to take on UCO before wrapping up the 2019 portion of the schedule at home against Central Christian College (Kan.) on Dec. 19.

Conference play begins in earnest on Jan. 2 as OBU visits Arkadelphia for back-to-back games against ravine rivals Henderson State and Ouachita to kickstart 18 consecutive GAC contests. The 2020 GAC Tournament is scheduled for March 5-8 at Bruin Fieldhouse in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

In all, OBU hosts 15 home events at the Noble Complex, including 11 against conference foes. Fans interested in purchasing season tickets are encouraged to visit OBUBison.com/Tickets for pricing and information, or call 405.585.5300.
