Three Bison Earn NCBWA All-Region Honors

SHAWNEE – Three members of the Bison baseball team have earned Division II Central Region honors from the National College Baseball Writers Association.
 
Catcher Ramon Enriquez was named First Team All-Region, while outfield Jake Gozzo received Second Team recognition. Designated hitter PJ Harris earned Honorable Mention.
 
The Great American Conference champion Bison concluded their 2018-19 season with a second straight appearance in an NCAA Regional, falling to top-seeded Augustana in the championship series on May 18.
 
As a junior, Enriquez batted .341 for the Bison while finishing second on the team in home runs (14) and RBI (71), while sharing the team lead in doubles (17). Behind the plate, the San Bruno, Calif, native boasted a .970 fielding percentage with 435 putouts on the year.
 
Gozzo led OBU's potent offense with 20 home runs, while also driving in a team-high 72 runs. The senior from Redlands, Calif., also led the Bison with 78 hits on the season to go along with a .333 batting average.
 
Harris, a senior from Frisco, Texas, made the most of his final season on Bison Hill, batting .352 with 69 hits, including 10 home runs and 15 doubles. Down the stretch he was most clutch with runners on base, leading the team with an OBP of .488.
