Bison Drop Doubleheader to Monticello

SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist baseball team was unable to cool down the hottest team in the Great American Conference as the Bison dropped a pair of games to the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Friday.

Winners of 15 straight coming into the series on Bison Hill, the Weevils continued their hot streak by pounding out 27 hits to sweep Friday's doubleheader at Bison Field at Ford Park.

UAM put up 19 runs on 17 hits in their game one victory. Garrett McKee was able to get the Bison on the board with a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. The senior infielder finished the game 2-3 at the plate.

The Weevils scored five runs in the first inning of game two to stake themselves to an early lead. Brock Carter doubled to center in the home half of the seventh, scoring Kaden Betsch and Ramon Enriquez, but the Bison were unable to get any closer.

With rain expected in the Shawnee area overnight and in the morning, Saturday's series finale is scheduled to be played at 11 a.m.
