SHAWNEE – It was a slugfest in Shawnee Tuesday night as the Bison run-ruled Southwestern Oklahoma State, 17-7, in a non-conference matchup at Bison Field at Ford Park. The win was the 20
th for the Bison in 2019.

The Bulldogs struck first, plating five runs in the top of the first inning. But OBU chipped away, scoring three in the home half of the first and added another score in the second before erupting for seven runs in the bottom of the third.

The Bison took their first lead of the night after
Joey Pledger blasted a three-run home run to make it 7-5.
Garrett McKee followed with a solo homer to stretch the lead to three. After three straight walks,
PJ Harris scored on a passed ball before
Eric Carlson singled to left field scoring
Ramon Enriquez and
Jake Gozzo.

OBU added four more runs in the fourth, including a three-run blast by Enriquez. The junior from San Bruno, California, put the finishing touches on his night with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to put the Bison up 10. Enriquez finished the game 4-5 with five RBI, extending his team lead.

Andrew Eppenbach combined to give up just two runs over 6.1 innings in relief of starter
Thomas Shroder.

The Bison next host the University of Arkansas at Monticello for a three-game GAC series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
