EDMOND, Okla. – Oklahoma Baptist had in-state rival Central Oklahoma wobbling but could not topple the Bronchos, losing 7-2 Tuesday in a baseball game in Edmond.
OBU and UCO played seven innings knotted at two before the Bronchos broke open the game with five runs in the eighth.
OBU scored first when
Brock Carter sent a pitch sailing over the right-field wall scoring
Kaimana Bartolome in front of him to put the Bison ahead 2-0. The Bronchos tied the game after scoring a run in the second and fourth innings A.J. Merkel who pitched well before exiting in the fifth inning.
OBU relievers
Caleb Bly, Andy Eppenbach and
Hudson Pearson each blanked the Bronchos in their inning turns on the mound.
Albert Monge took the loss allowing a hit and two walks against the first four batters in the eighth.
The Bison, now 10-8 on the year, will begin a four-game series at Ouachita Baptist with a Friday doubleheader in Arkadelphia, Ark.
