Women Soar at Pittsburg Gorilla Classic

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Oklahoma Baptist women's indoor track team continued to pile up impressive results with its latest effort at the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic.
 
OBU will have one last meet – the Texas Tech Matador Qualifier – before competing in the Great American Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 22-23 in Norman.
 
The 4 x 400 relay team of McKae Mitchell, Sherine Van Der Westhuizen, Cameka Witter and JoziRose Mayfield were again winners in their event. The OBU team finished in 3:43.44, just ahead of second-place Wichita State.

Witter and Mitchell finished one-two in the 400-meter dash. Witter had a provisional qualifying time of 54.88 as well as her teammate at 55.01.

Tessa Potter won the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.93 and Evelyn Carswell was the top high jumper in the open competition with a leap of 5-4.
