CLEBURNE, Texas – Oklahoma Baptist salvaged a difficult road trip by winning the finale in the four-game Alpine Fresh 4 Him Tournament. The Bison were easy 11-1 winners over instate rival East Central Saturday in Cleburne, Texas.
The win improved OBU to 3-4 on the year. The two teams will meet again Tuesday in a single game at ECU in Ada. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
Jesus Chavez picked up the win as he scattered six hits over five innings and improved his record to 2-0. Chavez was relieved by
Andrew Eppenbach and
Matthew Wilson who each pitched one inning in the run-rule shortened game.
Ramon Enriquez smashed a two-run homer in the fifth that put the Bison in front 5-1. OBU put the game out of reach with a six-run sixth inning.
Eric Carlson and
Garrett McKee each drove in a pair of runs in the sixth on base hits. OBU finished the game with 10 team hits against four different Tiger hurlers, including chasing the starter in the fifth.
