SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist opened up its 2019 STUNT season winning both of its matches Saturday at home against Oklahoma City and nationally-ranked Texas Tech.
OBU defeated OCU 19-3 and then took care of nationally-ranked Texas Tech, 17-9.
OBU, now in its fourth-year as a competitive cheer team, has qualified for national competition in each year. The Lady Bison are led by Coach
Jessica Stiles.
In the matchup with Texas Tech, OBU gained control early by winning the first round beating Texas Tech in a demanding STUNT 6 routine. OBU steadily built its lead over the next quarters and held of a challenge by the visitors late.
Also honored at the event were the eight seniors on the OBU team. They were Alyssa Alvarado, Shelby James, Madison LeForce, Tiffany Molina, Destiny Nicholes, Tiffany Molina, Brea Richards and Whitney Wedgeworth.
The OBU STUNT team returns to action Feb. 15 against Oklahoma City and Oklahoma State. The matchup will be at Oklahoma City.
